Summertime– is the livin easy?

Summer is a glimmering contradiction; at once beckoning us to slow down and take the time to smell the flowers and bask in the sunlight, while also filling our plates– literally and figuratively with action activity and burning the candle at both ends. While the day light lasts longer and we are energized with the buzzing and blossoming of this beatific season, it can be even more important to return to ourselves, again and again, to fill the well within with self care and replenish our energy stores for this short but robust time of year.

Massage therapy is a great way to make an hour really count! In addition to the therapeutic benefits for the muscles and the mind, the nutrient rich oils I custom blend for my practice help keep summer skin glowing.

Won’t you come in and reboot with me? I’ve set deep intentions to help you step into a little down time from the merry go round! One hour sessions are just $50.

You can follow this link to book your bliss!

May the long time sun shine upon you, all love surround you and the sweet light within you guide your way on–

With profound devotion–

Christina

Super Soul Summer Saturday’s

This winter I spent 8 weekends taking over the bedrooms, living rooms and offices of women and transforming these spaces, for a day, into an oasis of relaxation and good vibes.

Their tribes would gather together for food, fun and a little “me” time. I would bring all the accoutrements for a day of pampering; my table, sheets, music, and even my Goddess cards for a reading during a half hour or 60 minute session.
With summer upon us, I’ve decided to offer this again for the visiting family members and summertime friends to take advantage of.
You pick a date, your invitees and make a schedule– giving me 15 minutes between each session– no more and no less– I take care of everything else!
Time together, and relaxing– a great way to spend a Saturday. Text or email me if you want in on this one of a kind gathering.
30 minute sessions: $35

60 minute sessions: $65
In addition to a heavenly treatment, each gal will receive a small gift aimed at extending relaxation after the session ends!
Graduation–reunion– off to new adventures– rejuvenation time–you name it, this is a truly happy way to spend time together!

Pass it on!!!

The Road to Health…

Road construction on M-115 right now means some waiting time… I try to remember to use these pauses to check in with myself; take some deep breaths, sip some water, check that my mascara isn’t streaming down my cheek, and if Moonshine is with me, tell her what a good girl she is and scratch her ears. When its a longer wait, I will even let myself go into a short meditation; opening my eyes just slightly every few seconds to see if we are moving. I wave and smile at the workers and try to send them lovebeams because I bet they get a lot of negative energy directed at them for the “inconvenience” they represent. Just a small quiet blessing can go a long way, atleast to keeping my own stress lower. If I can avoid it, by all means possible I find an alternative route!
What I do not do is fret or complain about being late or how long I’ll be waiting. (And I TRY to schedule appointments with A LITTLE flex time…) Because I know that in the big picture of life, this is minor, and because I have started paying attention to my heart as an organ and muscle & in general, to my body as a machine that has been running for almost 40 years (!). Stress wears it down. It isn’t worth it!
A friend recently teased me about my choice to move my office during this summer long road project as “not well thought through”. But I see it differently. Don’t get me wrong, road work slows us all down. But I think there’s an opportunity here, now, before and after a massage to just check in with yourself and not rush back into the world, into the stress, back into the endless “to-do”. Perhaps it’s perspective– but life is full of road blocks, one lane closures and reduced speed for safety zones. Opportunities to get quiet, just listen and pay close attention to that beating heart, to the small voice within are a gift, if you choose to see them as such, which I do because it makes me happier– and I enjoy happiness. 😉
Road work is really not a big deal (to me). I hope you don’t let it hold you back from coming in for a massage, though I recommend giving yourself extra time. If you arrive early I’ve got a comfy couch, tea and books waiting for you while you wait for me! You can schedule your appointment by clicking here!  (I do offer outcalls in your home/office/cottage for $75/hr, but these must be scheduled through a phone call 231.632.4747 not thru the link).
Massage invites us into a somatic (body) conversation– the body gets to say “thanks for listening, I’ve got a lot to say to you!”. Road construction to and from your appointment might just be what allows that information to linger. I challenge you to embrace it!
With Profound Devotion,

Christina

All for One and One for All!

It feels good to be back to work as a massage therapist. Everyday that I get to go to my sweet little spot at Grow Benzie I give thanks! I am grateful for the space and I am grateful for the clients booking appointments. I am grateful that I am able to return to this beautiful work after a long reprieve and pick it up like no time has passed. I am grateful for the depth of care and compassion available to me that has been added to my work from my own healing. I am grateful that I have a trade that brings so much to my own life experience and that others find value in as well. I am grateful that I can be self employed in a profession that is so needed at this time on the planet, when the need to unwind and reboot is so essential to being well. I am grateful that this work speaks for itself. I am grateful that many place their faith in me to help them. What an incredible blessing!
I truly feel the importance of this work. I am passionately committed to helping others understand that it is not simply a luxury for the lucky. It is not all “foo foo lala” as my Eastern European professor called it, referring to why massage matters. Massage therapy is so much more than an hour of bliss. I want everyone in my community to understand this. I want everyone in my community to experience regular massage for themselves, to see the difference it makes in body and spirit. While I am grateful for the income it provides me, I do not do it only for the money and I do not set the standard fee of this industry. One of the reasons I decided to offer a sliding fee scale was because I wanted everyone to feel as though they could have affordable access to it. I find that people are reluctant to ask for this though. And so, I have decided to make a change. I don’t want anyone to ever feel like I am the Walmart of massage therapy. I am not scurrying to find clients or pay high rent. I am actually back to this work because I love it and I want people to feel it is something they can do and afford to do for themselves. I am grateful for an affordable space and so I’ve decided to pass on the savings to everyone by offering 60 minute massages for $50 for as long as I have this affordable rent. That is atleast $15 less than the average, and quite a bit less than you’d pay at a spa or a massage center. That is for everyone. I hope this is the encouragement you need to make massage therapy a pet of your life and to let me help you achieve your goals for well being. I’m not discounting my other services, but I am happy to make a one hour massage something that I truly believe most Benzie county residents could afford once per month. I don’t think that is naive; I do think we all make some sacrifices for what we value. And if you value feeling better, I hope you will consider massage therapy as a way to help that. I’m also always open to discussing barters, I have always and will continue to consider what we might be able to create together that is mutually beneficial. If you are in the fence, come have a try.
I am also feeling like I want to have a monthly drawing for one person to receive a “free” massage. There are so many super heroes in our community! So, in light of this, I am asking you to email your nominee for June’s giveaway. Tell me why your nominee deserves or needs a one hour massage. I will select one winner and send them a gift certificate FROM YOU. Email me their story as well as their address and yours. If your winner is selected, then you too will receive something special in the mail from me! You are welcome to nominate yourself, too! I will read each entry and select the one that pulls at my heart strings the strongest! I will pick the winner on June first and notify them right away so that they have the rest of the month to schedule their massage. The only caveat is that the session must occur within the month it was awarded. Feel free to pass this on! And email me at christinaryanstoltz@gmail.com
I hope that you will make an appointment soon for yourself. Every Body deserves massage.

Much Love!

Pediatric Massage

here!Massage is for kids!

My son was 5 when I was in school to become a massage therapist. It was great to have a tiny human to practice on as my hands developed endurance and coordination, and his little body was perfect for me to confirm what I was learning in anatomy & physiology. Added bonus? He learned so early to stretch, drink water, listen to his body and also, when to come to me for aches and pains, to help him fall asleep or calm down. It was a gift for us both, for sure.

It taught me just how important therapeutic touch is for all ages. I was fascinated that such small bodies hold all the physical remnants of stress that adults do. Little knots in their shoulder blades, tight hamstrings, ticklish & sore muscles, and shallow breathing all contribute to little bodies that learn early how to run economically, but not always the most effectively, that become grown ups with chronic pain , dysfunctional movement and unchecked stress levels.

Who remembers their own, or has watched their child endure growing pains? The physical act of growing up can really hurt! And let us not underestimate the emotional challenges that children face at an ever increasingly alarming rate in our warped speed modern culture. The impact of social and emotional stress on young developing brains and bodies is no joke.

The most important things we can share with our children are healthy ways to cope with the physical and emotional realities of life. It can be so empowering to learn the tools of self awareness early in life. If you have ever witnessed a child meditate, do yoga, or create personal boundaries to take care of themselves energetically, then you know what I am talking about! It is a rare sight to behold! A healthy diet, a reliance on water, and simple listening to your child can help build confidence and instill self worth, the foundation of self care, in them. And of course, our own example of self care is the most impactful, let’s show them how it’s done! Massages for the whole family begin here!!!

If you’re finding that you can use support or your child might respond well, consider what is perhaps most important to you as a parent is also the most researched; massage therapy in children stimulates cognitive & motor development & provides stress and anxiety relief. See below the areas benefited by pediatric massage include:

  • Body: It improves circulation and skin nutrition, stimulates growth, offers passive exercise; reducing atrophy of muscles and easing aches and pains, increases flexibility and function of muscles and joints.
  • Mind: It supports and increases thinking and verbal skills.
  • Emotions: It helps children relax and learn to calm themselves and be better able to manage stress. Helps relieve depression and anxiety.
  • Social: It can increase speech and language skills and help to build trust, friendship and respect.

My practice has been committed to and specialized in the care of women and children since 2001, which is where I focused my studies in my master’s program in school and have continued ever since. Now more than ever I feel a passion for pediatric massage and the importance of building strong connections between their health and overall well being. If you’re interested in massage for your child(ren), please know a few things:

  1. You are always welcome in the room with them during their session.
  2. Depending on their size and need, I offer 15, 30 or 60 minute sessions for children.
  3. Pediatric massage is for ages 2-18.
  4. I am willing and able to work in cooperation with other helpers (medical, psychological, occupational therapies).

If you’re interested in learning more or have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me! You can call me @ 231.632.4747 or email christinaryanstoltz@gmail.com or simply book here!

Hot cakes and Mama’s

For the month of May ONLY I will be offering an introductory discount on One Hour Massages for $50 in my new healing space inside Grow Benzie’s Studio House (that is the “little” house next door to the big blue community center, tucked behind the trees in this photo!)
I am not intending to offer regular specials/sales as I have in my previous practice because of my sliding fee scale, but in lieu of an open house which I briefly considered, I thought I would instead give everyone an opportunity to come experience what all the fuss is about… 💛
Please follow this link to schedule a session for yourself!
Because Mother’s Day is also in May, I am extending this offer to anyone wishing to purchase gift certificates for this sweet holiday! If you would like to take advantage of this offer, or suggest it to your children/spouse, please email me at christinaryanstoltz@gmail.com . However, the sale on gift certificates is only valid until Mother’s Day. (No certificates will be issued after this date and the discount will only apply at time of service).

Please feel free to share. I love mamas!

Circles…

Each time I have begun the process of creating healing space to share my affection for human anatomy and the spirit of all whom entrust me in their care, I am reminded of the little dream I had for myself back in my mid twenties. I was a single mama working several odd jobs in the tourist industry that required me to be away from home many evenings and weekends, especially during my favorite times of the year; summer and the holidays. As I surrendered more and more to the pull of purpose, I was also drawn to create an opportunity for me to make a living with a more sustainable schedule that would allow me to be the kind of mama I ached to be all year, and not just in the “off season”. Being self employed was not the easy way, however, and it leant itself to other forms of unsustainability, primarily, stress.
Several moons ago, I took my first paycheck job in more than a decade and found myself laughing at how much “easier” it felt to have a guaranteed income that I wasn’t scrambling every week to provide! I am so grateful for the opportunity of a “real job” now, as it provides a steady income and health insurance. What a concept! This also allows me a particular sense of freedom as I spend part of my time doing massage just for the love of this work. There is no desperation vying for my time and attention to clients. I have already felt this play out in the quality of care given to each person I have seen since beginning again. I am able to invest the time and energy of that original intent, back before I even truly knew what awaited me in this line of work, when I dreamed a little dream of what it might feel like to be a massage therapist.
This new and retrieved-from-memory-joy has invigorated my practice and the depth of the well from which I draw inspiration. Creating a space for the highest good of anyone walking through the doorway, who can leave their troubles and not pick them up on their way out… This is a tall order for anyone, and yet it is the impetus of my intent. Sister, lay your burden down.
If you’re into that sort of thing, Click here for bliss! I’d love to “get my hands on you”!!!

If you’ve had a massage from me lately, you’ve probably heard the newest anthem of my little practice, I’m loving on this song like a dear old friend who gives the best hugs! Enjoy!

Much Love,

Christina
